Without any doubt these were the basic amenities that a guard van must have as one can imagine during peak summers what could be the working conditions inside an iron clad guard van without a fan and in night without light.

Light, fan and charging points is powered by solar power that is backed up by batteries that can continuously provide power for 24 hrs even during rainy season. The Van is also connected through GPRS system that helps in monitoring and carrying out timely maintenance.

Earlier Indian Railways launched its first vaccum toilet equipped diesel loco. As a major relief to loco pilots this facility can be used once train is stationary with loco brakes on. Earlier, loco pilots has the compulsion to use guard toilet or toilets in coach.

More than 50,000 suggestions were taken from railway employees to enhance working conditions.
