Title - Electric trains to run on new Indore-Ujjain track

Electric trains would run on the new Indore-Ujjain railway stations most likely from next week, following inspection and clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety.

Railway sources said that initially goods train would be run on the new system of electrification followed by passenger trains.

A team of CRS led by its commissioner PS Baghel has conducted a trial run of a special inspection saloon on this newly laid system build at a cost of INR 70 crore.

The sources said that the special train was tested on this track between 70 and 100 km per hour of speed.

Diesel engine would be phased out on this section in near future. When contacted the Chief of Rail Electrification Project at Kota (Rajasthan) M P Singh said CRS would soon issue a clearance certificate for running the trains.
