Revenue Minister and Mysore district in charge V. Srinivas Prasad on Tuesday assured members of the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) that he would convene a meeting at the government-level to take steps for the all-round development of the city.Mr. Prasad was felicitated by the members on the occasion.“I will convince the Chief Minister in this regard,” Mr. Prasad said at an interaction meeting held to discuss beautifying Mysore, with special focus on Dasara festivities. The government had already decided to waive entry tax for 15 days on vehicles entering Mysore, from October 1 to 15, Mr. Prasad said.Earlier, the president of the MCCI, Sudhakar, S. Shetty, who read out a memorandum and handed over a copy to Mr. Prasad, said that work on converting the Mysore–Bangalore railway line to broad gauge had to be expedited to benefit commuters travelling every day. More importantly, arrangements should be made to operate flights from the Mysore airport every day. According to Mr. Shetty, water supply under the Vani Vilas Water Works was often irregular. JUSCO was not doing a proper job either. The drinking water problem should be solved, he said. He added that power shortage had hit industrial production. |
