Palakkad Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Piyush Aggarwal visited various railway stations in the district on Friday as part of moves to upgrade infrastructure and other amenities in keeping with the increase in the number of passengers.Mr. Aggarwal, accompanied by team of senior officials, including the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and the Senior Divisional Operating Manager, reached here in a special train and held parleys with railway staff, including those at Cheruvathur, Nileswaram, Kanhangad, and Kasaragod. The visit comes in the wake of the decision to transform Cheruvathur and Nileswaram as ‘Adarsh’ stations in the Railway Budget presented in February. Mr. Aggarwal also held talks with representatives of social organisations and received memoranda drawing the Railways’ attention to a host of issues faced by the railway employees. In a written plea by the Vikasana Samithi, Kanhangad, Railways were urged to take steps to provide a fully covered roof at the station. The memorandum urged the officials to open another ticket counter. The Samithi also sought stops for major trains passing through the region. |
