CHANDIGARH: The departure of the third Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express has been changed by 20 minutes, with effect from Thursday.

According to the new schedule, the train would now leave Chandigarh railway station at 12 noon instead of its previous time of 11:40 am and would reach New Delhi railway station at 3:20 pm instead of 3 pm.

However, there is no change in the departure timing from New Delhi and as previously, the train would commence its journey at 7:15 pm and reach Chandigarh railway station at 10:35 pm.

A large section of railways users had recently made a representation to railway officials seeking a change in the timings of the train from Chandigarh as they were of the view that due to less time gap between the arrival and departure timings of two Shatabdi trains, commuters had to face a lot of problems at the railway station.

Following this, Union railway minister and local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal had directed officials concerned to look into the matter.

Sources in the railways ministry said for the past fortnight, trial runs of the Shatabdi were being held to monitor the feasibility of changing the timing.
