Title - Pune division celebrates railway week

PUNE: As many as 207 employees of Pune railway division were felicitated with a certificate and cash awards during a special programme organized to celebrate 58th Railway Week here at the railway institute. As many as 11 awards were also given to the teams of employees for their outstanding performances registered through out the year 2012-13.

Divisional railway manager Vishal Agarwal, who chaired the function congratulated the employees on their performances and contributions towards offering better services to passengers. Agarwal asked the employees to continue to offer better services. He said that the employees should work as a team to boost their performances.

He said that the train journeys should be safe and secure. The division was initiating steps to introduce better passenger amenities and infrastructure facilities at all the stations, he said.

Agarwal said that the Pune division's passenger earnings stood at Rs. 534 crore on March 31, which was about 14 per cent higher as against last year's earnings.

The Railway week was organized to celebrate running of the first train on April 16, 1853 up to Thane. The division's top officials and the railway employees were present and various cultural programmes were organized during the week.
