Jaipur: The DMRC has issued guidelines and rules for staff and passengers who would be a part of the upcoming Jaipur Metro.“If a train stops beyond its normal stoppage but with the doors still closed on the platform, the train will be reversing so as to align the train at a proper place. After reversing, the doors may then be opened manually and passengers will be allowed alighting or boarding.”The unique facility would be availed by passengers in Metro trains on Mansarovar-Chandpole route which is scheduled to start in July. The Union ministry for urban development introduced this facility while issuing ‘Metro railways general rules, 2013 and opening of Metro railways for public carriage of passengers’.These rules have been forwarded to Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) and which has been asked to implement them with the de-notification. The rules primarily detail the operation and maintenance of trains and focus on services to be offered to passengers in general. However, the unique services were asked to be provided to passengers by the Metro staffers in case of emergency. For instance, if the Metro trains get mechanical glitches and cannot move forward, then another train will be ready to assist the passengers within minutes. “The train operator of defective train will secure his train and instruct the train operator of the assisting train to cooperate with the defective train by mechanical means,” said a rule of the manual.

In another condition, the assisting trains could be sent to the help of defective trains with ramps and the steps. The assisting trains will stand parallel to the stalled trains and passengers will be transferred via door with the help of ramps, said another rule specifying the condition of the emergency.

The unique rules are set for the proper safety of the passengers. Meanwhile, the same rules have imposed restriction on the Metro staffers to follow the safety direction at any cost. The rules have been forwarded to a dozen Metro agencies across the country.
