The Jammu and Kashmir government will take up the issue of setting up a rail coach factory in the state with the Railway Ministry as it will help the state in “triumphing” over industrial backwardness, a minister said.
“I will write to the Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal about setting up the rail coach factory in J&K,”  Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo said while addressing members of Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “This will help us tide over industrial lethargy and propel our economic growth,” he said. The minister said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had also during a seminar in November last year demanded setting up of a rail coach factory in the state.
Kichloo said he was aware about the issues confronting the industrial sector, which require immediate remedial measures and assured formulating a strategy in this regard. “A well thought-out strategy will be worked out to tackle the issues and a mechanism put in place to fast-track industrial development in the state,” he said. Kichloo said that state’s economy will receive a push if a vibrant and organised industrial sector manages to establish a foothold adding that services’ sector will create a great opening for our technically-equipped youth. “There is a vast potential for our skilled youth to get absorbed in the state’s manufacturing sector,” he said..
