The Civil Society has welcomed the provision in the Railway Budget 2013-2014 for the doubling of the Secunderabad-Mudkhed-Adilabad railway line and survey on Adilabad-Mahor-Washim and Adilabad-Utnoor-Mancherial lines. In a press release here on Tuesday, Civil Society representatives S.P. Pataskar and N. Kalyan Reddy however, pointed out that the survey for a new railway line on the Adilabad-Utnoor-Mancherial would not work out as it would need to cut through the Kawal Tiger Reserve (KTR) forest and some sections of other reserve forests, which the Forest Department would certainly oppose. They were also critical of the Railway Ministry for not honouring the longstanding demands of people of this backward district, pointing out the delay in the starting of survey work on many new railway lines.
