Title - ‘Metro will bring top class transport to city’

L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Chief Executive and Managing Director V.B. Gadgil reiterated his promise of world-class transport and said the Metro would be the preferred mode of transport for all citizens in the capital.

Addressing a panel discussion with top industry leaders on Sunday, Mr. Gadgil pointed out that the Metro would reduce commuting time, cut transportation cost and also enhance the quality of commuting.

The L&T concessionaire has been tasked with building the project and operating it.

“Employee transportation plays an important role in our industry. It has a significant impact on our productivity, work-life balance, and obviously, the operating cost,” he said.

FAPCCI president Devendra Surana, Deloitte Head (India Operations) Laxman Murthy, TCS Vice-president & Global Head V. Rajanna, Infosys (Centre Head) S. Ravi Kumar, APSRTC Executive Director Koteswara Rao, Broadridge Financial Solutions MD V. Laxmikanth, Invesco Country Head Deenanath and E2 Labs Founder Chairman Zaki Qureshy participated in the panel discussion, a press release said.

In a separate function, senior officers from the National Defence College, New Delhi were shown a presentation on the Metro Rail’s concept, project execution, engineering challenges and financial innovation at the Metro Rail Bhavan on Saturday.

The metro rail project in the public private partnership would help strengthen the country’s infrastructure with cost effective methods and innovative techno-financial solutions, said Mr. Reddy, according to a press release.

The officials, foreigners among them, were highly appreciative of the innovative financing pattern, engineering solutions, total transportation approach and urban redesign concepts being adopted in the project.

Abhay Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Government of India and currently with the NDC, led the team.
