Title - Regular service of new train begins - Madurai-Kacheguda weekly express

Regular service of the Madurai-Kacheguda weekly express commenced from Sunday providing rail travellers of Tiruchi and its neighbouring districts a new facility to reach different places in Andhra Pradesh without having to board from Chennai Central.

Though the inaugural specials were operated from Kacheguda and Madurai on May 28 and 29 respectively, regular service started from June 1 from Kacheguda and June 2 from Madurai. The new weekly service was announced in the Railway Budget 2012-13. The train (17616) will henceforth leave Madurai every Sunday at 12.50 p.m. and arrive in Tiruchi at 3.45 p.m. It will depart Tiruchi at 4 p.m. and arrive in Karur at 5.08 p.m.

It will leave Karur at 5.10 p.m. to reach Erode at 7 p.m. It will leave Erode at 7. 10 p.m. and arrive in Salem at 8.05 p.m. It will depart Salem at 8.10 p.m. It will arrive in Kacheguda at 2.05 p.m, the next day.

The express train (17615) will leave Kacheguda every Saturday at 6.05 a.m. It will arrive in Salem at 11.10 p.m. and leave that station at 11.15 p.m. It will reach Erode at 00.20 a.m., the next day and leave at 00.30 a.m. The arrival at Karur is 1.30 a.m. and departure at 1.35 a.m. The express will arrive in Tiruchi at 3.35 a.m. and leave at 3.40 a.m. It will reach Madurai at 7 a.m.

The trains will stop at Mahboobnagar, Gadwal, Kurnool Town, Dhone, Ananthapur, Dharmavaram, Madanapalle Road, Piler, Pakala, Chittoor, Katpadi, Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Karur, Tiruchi, Dindigul and Kodaikanal Road in both directions.
