Rashidpura Khori - A railway station that is solely run by villagers without involvement of railway employees. Villagers of Rashidpura Khori has been running this railway station successfully for years and it was only since November 15 a temporary halt was imposed by rail authorities on daily train services due to broad gauge work but after the completion of work railway station is operational again.

Rashidpura Khori station was a part of the princely state of Jaipur when it was launched in 1929. This station became a lifeline for almost 25000 local residents of Palthana, Rashidpra and Khori after its launch. However for railways these numbers were not profitable therefore in May 2005 train operations were stopped.

After railway brought its services to halt, locals kept trying and requesting authorities to start train service again. After trying relentlessly, railways agreed on a condition that only if villagers will generate revenue of not less than 40,000 rupees a month at least train services will not continue.

The locals agreed on this and station was handed over to them in January 2009. A sum of rupees 5 lakhs was collected and several committees were formed to complete various tasks and duties like selling tickets and maintenance of station.

Local people motivated everyone to use train and in almost seven years all the hard work done by locals become successful. Railway increased stoppage of various trains from six to 10. When operations resumed after two years of broad gauge track work Mahendra Kumar a school teacher of Palthana was designated as ticket - seller.

Railway officials say if commercial activity nearby increases, this of-the-people-by-the-people station could get bigger.
