In an attempt to deter gangs operating in trains, the Railway police is set to conduct special operations in trains, particularly those running on long routes. Inspector General (GRP) Rohit Choudhary, after addressing a meeting of railway police officials in Ludhiana on Thursday, said the railway police have enhanced patrolling in trains, especially in long route trains. The IG said that in the past year alone, the railway police have caught nearly 15 criminal gangs and recovered 15 weapons from trains. The force has also played vital role for arrest of three gangs that were arrested by Amritsar, Majitha and Bathinda police, he added.
