ALLAHABAD: In order to offer adequate facilities to visitors during Mahakumbh, the railway administration is carrying out extensive construction exercise in and around Allahabad junction. Under the projects, old buildings at both sides of junction including city side and Civil Lines sides are being razed to ground with a motive to develop circulating area.

And, in view of ongoing construction works at Civil Lines side and razing of old buildings, the debris of old building are increasing manifold. So, the railway administration had restricted the movement on public bridge located at Allahabad junction from August 23, 2012 and efforts are underway to clean the debris at the earliest.

PRO, NCR, Amit Malviya told TOI that the junction located public bridge would be reopened on September 10,2012 for general masses and for the better transportation, passengers are being offered platform no 10 bridge as an alternative.

Once these projects were completed, the passengers and pilgrims coming Allahabad for Mahakumbh would be getting additional facilities and the railway administration would also be able to manage the crowd in a perfect manner. The passengers in fact would be getting all sorts of facilities like ticket booking, rest room and snacks/eateries on a common place and people from Allahabad and adjoining areas would be benefited.
