Title - Hooda to Launch Rohtak-Jhajjar-Rewari Railway Line on 8th January 2013

Rohtak(I-Haryana News): The new railway line of Rohtak-Jhajjar-Rewari, which will be inaugurated tomorrow at Rewari, is the first railway line to be made functional after a gap of 33 years in Haryana and it would also make a direct link between Chandigarh and Jaipur.

This was stated by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was talking to mediapersons in Rohtak today. He said that this new railway line between Rewari and Rohtak would usher in a new industrial revolution as industrial estates would come up along this railway line.

Mr Hooda said that it was he who had raised the demand of this railway line after becoming Member of Parliament in 1991. Thereafter, the proposal for the same was sent to the Planning Commission in 1996, but now this long standing demand of the people of the State had been fulfilled. He said that he would himself board the first train on this railway line from Rewari tomorrow at 12 noon.

The Chief Minister also credited the success of this project to Member of Parliament Mr Deepender Singh Hooda adding that the MP had dreamt of this railway line and had made concerted efforts to realise his dream. This project has cost about Rs 602 crore, the half of which has been borne by the State Government.

When asked to comment on the loss being suffered by the farmers due to the prevailing intense cold weather, Mr Hooda said that this weather would be beneficial for wheat crop, but he added that only during last year the State Government has got frost added in the list of natural calamities. If the crops of the farmers suffered any damage because of frost, the Government would get the ‘girdawari’ conducted to compensate them.

In reply to a question concerning the agitation by sugarcane growers, Mr Hooda said that the State Government being farmer-friendly, it was already taking necessary steps. He said that earlier, both Punjab and Haryana formed only one State. The sugarcane prices of only these States used to be compared. The prices of sugarcane in Haryana are more as compared to that of Punjab. He said that the agitating farmers were themselves owners of sugarmills and they were deliberately harming the farmers. Most of the sugarmills in the State are in cooperative sector and the farmers are their owners. Even during last year the State Government had of its own paid Rs 100 crore to the farmers and this year too it would do it. He described sugarcane as the main cash crop of the farmers in the State and said that the Government would not let the farmers suffer.
