PATNA: The issue of garbage lifting and removing encroachment from various parts of the city dominated the question hour in legislative council on Wednesday.Members cutting across party lines demanded immediate removal of garbage littered all over the city. Members also requested urban development and housing minister Prem Kumar to take immediate measures for removal of encroachment on the main thoroughfares, including from Dak Bungalow crossing to GPO roundabout, for smooth vehicular traffic.Replying to a question of Mahachandra Prasad Singh (JD-U), urban development minister said he would ask the Patna DM today itself for the removal of encroachment between Dak Bungalow crossing to GPO roundabout via Patna Junction road. While interrupting minister's reply, Mahachandra said though the road on this stretch has been widened, the encroachment on pavements virtually brings the traffic to a standstill. Members also said the encroachment by street vendors have made it difficult for people to catch trains from Patna junction. |
