Title - Fog hits rail, road traffic

BHUBANESWAR: Rail and road traffic in the state was partially hit and normal life affected on Saturday as dense fog enveloped most places till late morning hours. This is for the first time this winter most places in the state witnessed fog, the weatherman said.At least eight express and few more passenger trains run late under Khurda Road railway division. "Several trains were either controlled at different railway stations or moved in a restricted speed due to the fog condition," a railway officer here said. Road traffic was also disrupted for similar reason during morning hours. Intense fog reduced surface visibility to less than 200 metre.TheIMD centre here further forecast moderate fog, reducing surface visibility to less than 500 metre, in the state on Sunday. It also forecast little rise in both day and night temperature for at least two more days.With a little rise in both day and night temperature across the state, Sundargarh on Saturday recorded the lowest night temperature of 9.4 degree Celsius in the state.Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum night temperature of 17.2 degree C and 16.2 degree C respectively.Director of IMD centre, Bhubaneswar, Sarat Chandra Sahu said moisture content in the air at ground level and slow wind were favourable for development of fog condition.
