Title - E-display boards to flash train booking status

CHANDIGARH: With the railways introducing an electronic display chart instead of paper charts for rail reservations, it will be easier to access information on a daily basis.

The station is undergoing a major overhaul with latest facilities being provided to passengers. These include LCD screens with a complete running display of reservation chart and passenger database.

It will also include the name, sex, age, seat number, coach number, PNR number and the waiting list of passengers. Station superintendent Parveen Kumar said, "All this is being done to make Chandigarh railway station hi-tech and provide facilities to travellers. Many such steps will be taken."

Anil Dhull for Sector 38, a small time tour operator and frequent train traveler, said, "The system is good for passengers, as we will not have to stand in a milling crowd to check if our seats have been confirmed."

Abhinandan Pandey a textile designer from sector 15 said, "We have to frequently travel to fill in the stock. I feel this system is excellent. Now, I will not have to leave my things to find my name in the list."
