NASHIK ROAD: Chairman of the Railway Station Upgradation Committee, ADRM Pradeep Barapatre along with other railway officials visited Nashik Road Railway Station to review the services and facilities provided to the passengers there, as the Railways is planning to upgrade these. During this visit, disciplinary action was taken against some vendors selling eatables and were fined. Railway officials have been repeatedly visiting Nashik Road Railway Station since the last few days. Only last week, Divisional Railway Manager Mahesh Kumar Gupta visited and inspected the station. And now this visit. Apart from ADRM Pradeep Barapatre, Senior Deputy Chief Manager M G Borikar, Civil Engineer K L Meena, Railway Station Superintendent M V Saxena and former Superintendent R K Kuthar were also present during this visit. During the visit Barapatre thoroughly inspected the railway station. During the visit Barapatre asked a food stall attendant to show his identity card, but the vendor was not carrying it. For this, the vendor was promptly fined Rs 1,000. Hotel Swapnanand and one more eatery were charged fine of Rs 5,000 each for not having proper manufacturing date on the food products kept for sale. Many of the vendors on the railway station found themselves at the receiving end of this action taken by Barapatre. Speaking to journalists after the visit, Barapatre assured that the Scanner Machine would become operational within 15 days. On the parking area, he said the present contract had been extended until Jan 27 and a new tender would be floated for the same. Further, while informing about the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, he said that only one meeting had been held with the District Collector regarding Kumbh Mela so far, but they were yet to receive any directives either from the Central Government or the State Government. It may be recalled that on his last visit recently, the General Manager had assured that the scanner machine would become operational within 1 month. That deadline ends in two days. Now Barapatre has assured that the scanner machine will become operational within 15 days. Passengers are definitely not amused about this further extension. | ||
