Title - A full makeover with 5-star hotel on the top of Gandhinagar Railway station

Gandhinagar Railway station is all set to get a full makeover and a 5-star hotel on top of it. It will be the first railway station of Indian that will boast of amenities equivalent to modern airports.

This 250 crore redevelopment project is expected to come in its final shape in 2019. PM Narendra Modi recently took part in the ‘bhoomipujan’ for the project. Through redevelopment of stations, Indian Railways is trying to generate revenues apart from its transport system.

Some standout features can be marked in this project as:

  • A 5-star hotel on the top of stations.
  • This hotel will consist of 300 rooms that will cater delegates who travel Gujrat to take part in various summits; apart from the added convenience to tourists.
  • At 65 meters this will be the tallest building in Gandhinagar.
  • There will three towers of 10, 8 and 6 storeys.
  • Dedicated transit hall for passengers with more than 600 seating capacity.
  • Transit area will boast of food stalls, toilets, kiosks, shops and book stalls.
  • A separate parking facility that can house 1000 cars, 200 two-wheels and 100 auto-rickshaws.
  • Two escalators and three lifts will be installed.
  • There will be a prayer room, first-aid-room, passenger friendly information sign boards and lush-green landscaping.
