Title - 8 interesting facts about the 100 year old Jaipur – Seekar Meter Gauge track closed yesterday

  1. 19 December, 1916 was the date on which this railway track came alive.
  2. The first train started from Jaipur and reached to Palsana.
  3. The first steam engine train to Seekar arrived on 12 July, 1922.
  4. November 14, 2016 – at 8:05PM the last train on this track was sent to Jaipur.
  5. Atleast 10,000 passengers will be affected as this track will remain non-operational for months till broad gauge becomes fully operational in 2017 only.
  6. Passengers now have to opt for bus which will inflict an additional average cost of Rs. 7 lakh per day on them.
  7. The length of this 100 years approx. old line is 108km, conversion of which will cost 658crore rupees.
  8. Due to extreme delay in this project, the cost escalated as much as 15 times of the original.
