Title - 72 Semi-AC local trains to be introduced in Mumbai

72 Semi AC suburban trains will be introduced in Mumbai. Railway Ministry has finalised plans to introduce these Semi AC suburban trains. 

MP Kirit Somaiya raised the issue of AC suburban trains in parliament. He suggested that instead of introducing full AC trains, railway must look to introduce semi AC local trains. According to Somaiya, AC train services need improvement and might take extra time to come into full play. To counter that Western Railway and Central Railway must run semi AC trains on its suburban network.

Somaiya later tweeted: “Minister assured 6 dozen such locals will start operating in Mumbai in the year 2018.”

The cost of the semi-AC rake is estimated to be Rs 60 crore.
