On a pilot basis Indian Railways has installed CCTVs to 69 coaches in order to enhance safety and security of passengers. Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain said that CCTV cameras are installed in 69 coaches on a pilot basis so that railways can fast-track its step towards safety and security of all passengers including women and children. About 25 passenger coaches and 44 suburban coaches were chosen to install CCTV cameras. The task has been assigned to Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. In 2015, ICF issued a proposal and provided CCTVs in 4 coaches on trial basis in that year. To review the task Indian Railways has also assigned an expert group that includes industry experts and technicians so that final recommendation regarding improvement can be put up precisely. |
