CHANDIGARH: In an over two-and-half year old case, a local court on Saturday awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment to five men -- three from Nepal and two from Uttar Pradesh. The accused, Abrara Khan, Kayuum (both from Uttar Pradesh), Veer Bahadur, Gaurav alias Gora and Som Bahadur (all from Nepal) were held guilty of dacoity by the court on Saturday.

They were accused of looting money from a CRPF assistant commandant, Attar Singh Chauhan, in the wee hours of December 9, 2009. Chauhan was posted at Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police, Chauhan had reached Ambala railway station around 1.30am on December 9 and from there he took a private taxi for reaching Chandigarh. All the five accused were already sitting in the taxi, one of who was at the wheel. The vehicle was taken to a secluded place, where they beat up Chauhan and took away his wallet.
