Title - 4 more trains to get TVs for watching favourite shows

Chennai : Soon passengers travelling by train from Chennai – Coimbatore, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Chennai-Bangalore Shatabdi double-decker express will have the pleasure of enjoying serials and news programmes on television sets all through their journey.

These entertainment programmes on TV are already offered to passengers from Chennai-Bangalore-Chennai and the Chennai-Mysore-Chennai Shatabdi Express Thiruvananthapuram-Guruvayur-Thiruvananthapuram Express and the Lalbagh Express in which the project has been already launched, said head of Chennai-based Trans Vision V Girish Kumar who has been provided the contract for the entertainment programmes on-board.

Popular channels like Star, Sony TV, Vijay, and Kudumbam have been showing news-based shows and serials on day trains.  In the beginning of the  journey, passengers are welcomed in different languages like Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and English and even information regarding the place where the train is passing is also made known at each station to passengers.

Girish claimed that he is also having discussion with various content contributors including the national channels to provide a lot new content so that passengers get more entertainment while travelling.

When Girish was asked what can be the difficulties in providing head-phones for the passengers just like long-distance buses do, he said that the move to introduce such facility has been stuck down by the railways as many people complain the noise coming from television causes disturbance to them, especially in the morning hours while sleeping. People also complain saying that they are not able to hear the audio well, added Girish.

A number of passengers making a regular travel on the Chennai-Bangalore sector on Shatabdi trains said that there was a scope for enhancing the telecast quality of programmes.

Passengers feel viewing news channels in the morning hours will be welcoming besides giving information about traffic and weather report, said V Girish Kumar.
