Title - SUMMER VACATION Railways to run summer special trains from May 1

In order to clear the passenger rush during the summer vacation, the Railway has decided to run summer special trains between New Delhi and Udhampur and Varanasi and Udhampur via Ludhiana. Some more trains on the Amritsar-Mumbai and other trunk routes are also expected to be announced in the near future.Railway officials said a pair of trains between New Delhi and Udhampur will run thrice in a week, and in all will make 52 trips from May 1 to June 29.The train having three-tier AC, sleeper and general coaches will leave New Delhi every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11.45 pm and reach Udhampur at 12.10 pm. From Udhampur, it will leave every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8.50 pm and reach New Delhi at 10.30 am.The train will have stoppages at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Chakki Bank and Jammu Tawi stations.

Another pair of trains will run biweekly between Udhampur and Varanasi from May 3 to June 29. The train with three-tier AC, sleeper and general coaches will leave Varanasi every Tuesday and Friday at 3.30 pm and reach Udhampur at 5.20 pm the next day. From Udhampur, the train will leave every Wednesday and Saturday at 9.50 PM and reach Varanasi at 11.50 pm the next day.

The train will have scheduled stoppages at Jammu Tawi, Chakki Bank, Jalandhar Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Sharanpur, Laksar, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow and Sultanpur.

Senior officials say the Railways is also taking steps to provide better amenities to passengers at all major railway stations under the Ferozepur division. Arrangements are being made to make more counters operational at the railway reservation centres to cope with the heavy rush of passengers during summer.
