203 children between 8 and 13 years of age were held for more than 8 hours at Bengaluru Cantonment Railway station on Tuesday. A citizen filed a complaint of child trafficking and said that these children were victim of it. However children along with their instructors told police that all of them were returning to madrassas in Tumakuru Shivamogga, Madikeri and Bengaluru after a month-long vacation from various parts of country. All these children were travelling from Guwahati ti Bengaluru where they were detained when a fellow passenger accused instructors of child trafficking. Police questioned the adults while children were kept in waiting room. After full verification of all documents around 7PM police allowed instructors along with children to leave. Most of the children hail from Bihar, Assam and West Bengal. |
