Title - 2 freight train's engines collided, 2 station masters suspended

Two freight engines collided with each other between Raigarh and Kirodimal Station. The incident occurred on Friday at 11 PM in the night in which one engine got derailed. Railway has suspended two station masters after initial investigation.

At present, non-interlocking work is under progress at Raigarh Yard. During the entire work period signal remains yellow with allowed train speed not more than 15 kmph. At Kirodimal nagar station, a freight train was already standing on Raigarh siding while another freight train was standing on Bilaspur siding. The first train was given signal to move towards Bilaspur siding. Following the signal, loco pilot moved the train towards Bilaspur siding but soon he found that already the siding was occupied by another train. He immediately used emergency brakes but even then engine of both the trains collided.

Following the incident, relief train with engineering team and other technical staff arrived and brought the situation under control.

Officers arrived from Bilaspur suspended station master Shashank Swaroop and D Mandal.

This incident lead to 6 hours of railway traffic block in which many trains were left stranded in between.
