Title - 189 Gate mitras across North Central Railway zone

189 gate mitras at 79 unmanned level crossings has been deployed by Railway across North Central Railway zone to prevent accidents and run overs. This deployment covers almost half of Uttar Pradesh.

In 2017-18, NCR reported only 3 safety compromising acts by railway staff compared to 7 in 2016-17. NCR has always struggled in providing full safety; however such numbers will definitely work as a morale booster. In the financial year 2017-18, the number of security drives conducted in NCR was increased by nearly three times compared to previous years. Still 282 people died after being run over. Many of the deaths including suicides were not at crossings but at railway tracks.
