Title - 16,500 chewing tobacco packets seized

The Railway Police, on Friday, seized 16, 500 packets of ‘Hans’ (a brand of scented chewing tobacco) that was being transported in the Yesvantpur-Kannur Express train apparently for supply among migrant workers.The chewing tobacco packets, each weighing 12 gram, was taken into police custody following a tip-off given by the porters at the station.Though the police team headed by Sub Inspectors K.K. Saidharan and I. Rajendran conducted searches at the station, no one was taken into custody. On Wednesday too, the police had seized over 8,500 Hans packets.
