Title - 12% increase in railway revenue through digital payment

Indian Railways has witnessed a rise of over 12% in it's cashless payment system till August 2017. Reserved segment of e tickets generated revenue more than 12% compared to last year.

This increase can be termed as massive and can also be attributed to various steps taken by railways to promote digital payments.

Last year 64.76% tickets were booked online, which this year jumped to around 76%. Everyday about 13 lakh rail tickets are booked. rail official says that Railway has also witnessed increase in digital payments for unreserved tickets by 2%. Even in freight segment the revenue from cashless Mode increased from 97% to 99.8%.
