Title - 1100 water vending machines at 450 stations

IRCTC is planning to install more than 1100 water vending machines at 450 stations in year 2017 and 2018. The initiative is to provide safe drinking water to every passenger besides being it as cost effective. These machines dispense 300ml of water for just 1 rupee.

Also more than 2000 people will get employment. At present, there are 1,106 WVMs at 345 stations in the country, the ministry said. 

The project of setting up WVMs was initiated in 2015 with an objective of providing potable water at nominal rates.
