Eleven train passengers fell sick after they consumed stocked food between Hyderabad and Vijayawada stations and were treated at Rajahmundry railway station on Saturday night. According to district Collector Neetu Prasad, a batch of 46 passengers from Hyderabad to Howrah boarded East-Coast Express on Saturday morning and reached Vijayawada around 4.30 p.m.Eleven of them had complaints of vomiting and giddiness and reported the matter to Vijayawada Railway officials who asked Rajamundry railway staff to look into the case. After the train reached Rajahmundry around 7.40 p.m. a team of doctors attended on the 11 members and treated them. As the condition of one passenger, Subrato Chaterji (48), was not well, the doctors put her on the drip and advised her to continue treatment in Visakhapatnam. The train was delayed by more than 30 minutes as the 11 passengers had to be treated. |
