Title - ‘Expedite works to introduce battery cars at railway junction’

COIMBATORE :
A majority of ongoing works to be completed by June-end. Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Railway Division, Sujatha Jayaraj on Wednesday exhorted the officials at Coimbatore Junction to speed up ongoing works, including the construction of second subway and installation of elevators and escalators for introducing battery car services for the benefit of aged, ailing and differently-abled passengers.She inspected the ongoing works along with a team of officials including Additional Divisional Railway Manager Thavamani Pandi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager D. Lakshmanan, Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer Saini, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer Sankaramurthy and Public Relations Officer G.V. Venkatesan.Ms. Sujatha told the officials to remove all posters and graffitis on railway station premises and on window panes in connection with the railway union elections and called for cleaning the foot overbridge, besides improving the steps from the railway police station to the platform. She also directed for putting up more chairs in the circulating area and platforms for the waiting passengers.Taking note of the completion of the subway beneath platforms five and six, Ms. Sujatha said the construction works relating to the second subway for platforms 3 and 4 and 1 and 2 using the push-box technology needed to be speeded up.The Divisional Railway Manager also said that a 24-hour medical aid facility will also come up at the junction soon. She expressed confidence that a majority of the ongoing works will be completed by June-end.
