Title - Southern Railways to introduce more trains from Chennaii

Announcing a number of train services, Southern Railway has planned to introduce new trains from Chennai to Bikaner, Santragachi, Palani and Thanjavur which are likely to be launched later this year.The railways however had not yet confirmed the date of launch. The railways have also decided to launch new air-conditioned express trains, connecting Chennai Central with Bikaner and Santragachi and have also announced a new timetable schedule which came into effect from July 1.While announcing two new express trains connecting the State capital with two important towns in South Tamil Nadu,  the Southern Railways said that Train No.16003/16004 Chennai Central – Nagarsol (for Sai Nagar Shirdi) Express weekly train will make a departure from Chennai Central and will stop at Arakkonam, Tiruttani, Puttur, Renigunta, Razampeta, Cuddapah, Yerraguntla, Tadipatri, Gooty, Dhone, Kurnool Town, Gadwal, Mahbubnagar, Kacheguda, Malkajgiri, Kamareddi, Basar, Mudkhed, Hazoor Saheb Nanded, Purna, Parbhani, Jalna and Aurangabad.

An express train between Chennai and Palani  will be introduced which would make a stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Namakkal, Rasipuram, Karur, Dindigul, Akkaraipatti, Oddanchatram and Chatrappatti.

In addition to all this, a daily train service from Chennai Egmore to Thanjavur is also expected to be introduced which would stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Cuddalore Port Jn., Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kuttalam, Aduthurai, Kumbakonam and Papanasam, said  the railways.

While Train no.16177/16178 Chennai Egmore -Tiruchchirappalli/Kumbakonam Rock Fort Exp. is expected to stop at Tiruchchirappalli, Train no. 16089/16090 Chennai Central – Tirupattur Yelagiri Express will make a stop at Jolarpettai, with effect from July 1.

Meanwhile, some of the train numbers will also be re-numbered with effect from dates  given below:

Chennai Central – Mysore Kaveri Exp. (Daily)

Present 16222/16221

New – 16021/16022 from September 1.

Chennai Egmore – Mangalore Central Exp. (Daily)

Present – 16107/16108

New – 16859/16860 from September 1.

Chennai Egmore –Tiruchendur Exp. (Daily)

Present – 16735/16736

New – 16105/16106 from September 1.

Chennai Egmore – Rameswaram Exp. (Daily)

Present – 16701/16702

New – 16101/16102 from September 1.

Likewise departure timing of five trains departing from Chennai Central has also been changed as given below:

Train no 16053 Chennai Central – Tirupati exp- will depart at 2.10 pm instead of 1.50 pm.

Train no. 17311 Chennai Central –Vasco-da-Gama exp.- will make a departure  at1.50 pm.

Train no 17313 Chennai Central – Hubli exp- will make a departure at 1.50 pm.

Train no 22860 Chennai Central – Puri exp. will make a departure at 4.20 pm.

Train no. 12661 Chennai Egmore – Sengottai Pothigai Exp- will make a departure at 8.10 pm

Train no 22826 Chennai central – Shalimar exp- will make a departure at 4.20 pm from Chennai Central.

and

Train no. 11064 Mettur Dam/Salem – Chennai Egmore exp- will arrive 10 minutes earlier than the previous timing.
