CHANDIGARH: With the announcement of eight more women's battalions for the Railway Protection Force (RPF), women residents of the Tricity hope for the presence of more women in khaki at Chandigarh, Kalka and Ambala railway stations.Sunita Joshi, a government school teacher in Panchkula, said, "The announcement will boost the morale of women passengers. I hardly notice any woman in uniform inspecting luggage and passengers at the railway station."There are merely two cops for affairs related to women at the Chandigarh railway station. Although the scenario is a little better at Ambala railway station, which has more women cops, the number is still not enough. A senior RPF official, attached with Ambala railway division, said, "Many times, the RPF used to take the assistance of women cops from the GRP of Haryana police and from the Chandigarh and Ambala police."
