The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta) Dakaunda has announced a “rail roko” agitation on March 6 to protest against the modest rise in the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat.Baldev Singh Bhai Rupa, district president of the union, said a decision to this effect was taken today at a meeting of the various farmers and workers' organisations.The union will block the trains at Rampura, Barnala, Mansa, Rajpura, Patiala, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and other places in the state.Baldev Singh Bhai Rupa said the central government raised the MSP of wheat by jut Rs 65, while the prices of inputs for agriculture have increased manifold.He said the cost of fertilizer has gone up to Rs 1,250 from Rs 467 and even the price of diesel has gone up manifold after the government decontrolled the prices.
