Title - MBA student arrested on charge of theft in metro trains

Two young women, including an MBA student, who allegedly committed thefts in metro trains, have been arrested in the Capital.Monika Khantwal, a resident of Najafgarh, has been arrested for allegedly stealing the purse of a woman in a metro train between Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat stations. The accused later withdrew Rs.50,000 using the victim’s debit card. According to the police, Monika had targeted another woman named Shweta Garg at the Rajiv Chowk metro station on March 1. “We have recovered from her Rs.25,000 in cash,” said a police officer, adding that the accused had Rs.45,000 in her bank account.During interrogation, the accused disclosed that she is a Delhi University graduate and was pursuing post-graduation in management from a premier private institute in neighbouring Noida. She was also enrolled with an institute in Janakpuri in a one-year computer diploma course. “She disclosed that she committed theft to maintain her lavish lifestyle. She wanted to buy expense electronic gadgets,” said the officer.

In another case, the police have arrested Asha for allegedly being in possession of a mobile phone of a woman named Premjit Kaur who was drugged and her belongings stolen on January 30. The incident took place after Premjit boarded a train at the Chandni Chowk metro station.

While another gang member named Manju was arrested by the Delhi Metro staff at the Kashmere Gate station, the police are making efforts to arrest Asha’s husband Ashok and his other accomplices, Devender and Vinod.
