Posted by : RailXpert on Mar 02, 2013 - 18:00:17 PM

Bangalore: It’s a matter of time before the double-decker train will start running between Bangalore and Chennai. With safety clearance in, the train is waiting for the railway board to fix a launch date soon, officials said.
They said the train will start operations anytime this month as it’s a budgetary commitment of 2013-13.
“Clearance has been received from the commissioner for railway safety of South Western Railway division. We are waiting for the railway board to give us a date but it’s sure to start chugging before March 31,” said Anil Kumar Agarwal, divisional railway manager, Bangalore.
The train reached City railway station on Friday on its second set of trial runs from Chennai. Extensive trials were conducted between Bangarpet and Bangalore City railway station. “There were a few technical aspects which were asked to be corrected. Now things are fine,” Agarwal added.
The double-decker train will run ahead of Brindavan Express on the same route during the day.
The train will have 12 coaches each with a seating capacity of 120, more than that of Shatabdi Express and Brindavan. It’s fitted with a special chasis of German make that prevents coaches from piling up during collisions.
