JAIPUR: To expedite the process for attaining the safety certification and clearances, a team of officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DRMC) officials are camping at the Research and Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) headquarters in Lucknow. As the deadline for running the Metro is approaching fast, the Jaipur Metro Rail project needs safety certification by the commissioner of railway safety (CMRS) and clearance from the Research and Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) under a Metro Act, the DMRC expert teams have reached at the RDSO headquarters to resolve any queries."As not much time is left, our official teams have camped at RDSO since Monday so that quick correspondence can be done and all the queries can be settled. The RDSO give clearances after critically examining the designs, schedule of dimensions and technical parameters. The teams comprising all experts will be resolving the queries to expedite the procedure," DMRC general manager Atul Gadgil said.According to officials, a recent recommendation of the CMRS has delayed a project work near Ajmer road. To avoid such circumstances in future, the team will be involved to resolve the issues at the earliest.Explaining the delay, an official said that for construction above the rail tracks, the CMRS has directed that the designs of the peers will be verified by the railways officers, however, the railways officials have shown apprehensions due to lack of expertise. After that, a third party approval of the designs was recommended. "The work has been delayed a bit due to a third party inspection. We have approached Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) and other prominent institutes for proof-check, but they refused. " the DMRC official informed.

According to officials, the certification involves various agencies and it takes at least a month's time to check all the safety and operational parameters. Once the design and other clearance are given, the oscillations trails are conducted physically.

Explaining oscillation trials, an official said: "A series of trials will be conducted by RDSO to check train performance on the actual track under various load capacities and speeds and then compare it with design values."

During the trials, the train will be tested at different speeds to measure the lateral and vertical acceleration (wobbling of coaches) at different locations. The trial runs will be crucial as for the first time in the country, a sharp curve of 120 metre radius has been constructed by the DMRC. "As both the curves are near the metro station, it will not be a major problem in clearing the speed test," an official added.
