HUBLI: Members of the Communist Party of India, dalits and other organizations staged a protest in front of the deputy railway manager (DRM) office alleging irregularities in group 'D' recruitment in Hubli on Friday.

The protesters demanded an investigation into the irregularities in recruitment Nairutya Railways and submitted a memorandum to the general manager. The protesters said as per notice number 01/2007, applications were invited for 4,701 posts. A total of 79 candidates passed the physical and written examination, but they are yet to receive their appointment letters and have been kept aside as standby workers.

They pointed that there were no rules of keeping employees as standby in Nairutya Railways and suspected that there were irregularities in the recruitment process
