Title - Varanasi soaked in patriotic fervour

VARANASI: The city was soaked on the colour of celebration on the eve of the 64th Republic Day on Saturday. While flag hoisting will be conducted at various government and non government establishments, Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) will carry out a massive cleanliness drive across the city on Saturday.Special cleanliness drives will be held in urban slum areas near Maldahiya, Konia, Nagwa and other regions of the city. The spokeperson from the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) said various cultural programmes and sporting events will mark the celerbations for the Republic day at sports stadium on Saturday. After the flag hoisting, railway protection force (RPF), St John's Ambulance Brigade, Bharat Scouts and Guides, students of DLW inter college and junior red cross will take out a march past. Students of DLW schools will also stage cultural performances. A balancing rock fountain built in the DLW premises will also be inaugurated on the occasion. North Eastern Railways (NER) Varanasi division will also celebrate the occasion at the divisional office on Saturday. Besides, vice chancellor, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Dr Lalji Singh, will hoist the national flag at Malviya Bhawan, BHU, amphitheatre ground, and international hostel. At the same time, flag hoisting will be held at all faculties, departments and offices of BHU. Students and National Cadet Corps ( NCC) cadets will take part in various cultural and sporting events which will be held at amphitheatre grounds, BHU on Saturday. Meanwhile, flag hoisting will also be held at Police Lines, 39 Gorkha Training Centre (GTC), government and non government establishments, offices, schools and colleges.
