Title - Train crushes cattle near Talegaon, stalls traffic for 6 hrs

The railway traffic on the Pune-Lonavla route was disrupted on Wednesday, after the Chennai-Mumbai Express crushed three domestic animals near Talegaon at 12:30 am.Due to the mishap, the trains on the route ran two hours late, as they were compelled to travel on a single track. According to the railway authorities, the Chennai-Mumbai express was passing through the Talegaon area when the cattle which was crossing the railway track came under the train engine.Owing to this, the train operation on the track had to be halted for over six hours.YK Singh, public relation officer of Central Railway, Pune division, said, “The train was travelling towards Mumbai. After the mishap, the body parts of the animals got stuck between the railway engine and the cattle guard.” The engineering team of the railway administration rushed to the spot and found that the brakes of the engine were also jammed as some body parts of the cattle were stuck in it. The track was cleared by the railway authorities around 5 am , after which the railway traffic on the route was normalised.“We had to operate all the trains on the single route till the other track was cleared. It resulted into delay of some trains,” Singh said.Kanyakumari Express, Latur- Mumbai Express, Rajkot Express, Hyderabad- Mumbai Express, Siddheshwar Express were some of the trains that ran late. Due to the mishap the local train leaving from Lonavla to Pune early morning was also delayed.
