With rail communication between Assam and Barak valley as well as Mizoram and Tripura remaining disrupted following massive landslides triggered by heavy rains, North East frontier railway today announced restoration of two trains in the hill section between Lumding and Badarpur.

"For maintaining communication link disrupted by massive landslides two pairs of passenger special trains on Lumding-Mupa and Badarpur-Harangajao sections have started from June 30 last," NFR public relations officer J K Sarma said here today.

As the railway track between Mupa and Maibong has been repaired the Lumding-Mupa special train has been extended to Maibong, he said.

Restoration work is on in full swing and the ''section will be operational very soon,'' he added.
