Title - Snag brings CST to a standstill
Posted by : riteshexpert on Nov 08, 2012 - 12:01:03 PM

Around 60 trains were cancelled and many delayed by almost three hours after an overhead equipment (OHE) in the yard at CST broke down around 5.45 pm on Wednesday.
Traffic on all lines between CST-Byculla and CST-Wadala was affected. Trains were returning to Kalyan/Karjat/Kasara from Dadar and to Andheri/Panvel from Wadala.

The snag occurred after two pantographs of an Asangaon-bound fast local, which left CST platform seven, got entangled with overhead wires.

“Power had to be shut to rectify the snag, as a result no train could leave or enter CST for almost over 45-50 minutes,” said a senior Central Railway (CR) official.

People going home after work kept gathering at the station, creating chaos.

The situation improved after slow train services were restored on main and harbour lines at 6.45 pm. Traffic on the fast line could, however, be restored only at 8.15 pm.

“We are investigating how the wires got entangled,” said the Central Railway official.
