Title - Railway Officials swing into action

Visakhapatnam: Due to Breaches in the South Central Railway the following trains are announced cancelled, informed the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, M. Yalavendra Yadav  here on Monday.

Cancellation of trains: 1. Train No.57229 VSKP – MTS on 05-11-2012, Train No.57226 VSKP – BZP on 05-11-2012, Train No. 67296 VSKP – RJY on 05-11-2012,  Train No. 57272 VSKP – RGDA on 05-11-2012,  Train No. 12840 MAS – HWH on 05-11-12 were announced cancelled at around 11a.m. Informing this to the Media, the Railway Officials said that due to  torrential rains for the last 48 hours, a huge loss amounting to crores of rupees to the railways especially to the Waltair Division. This include refunds, sale of tickets etc,. However all the rush was cleared by 10p.m on Sunday. Staff of Commercial Department was engaged from 6am on Sunday Morning for the job. The clearing work included refunds, updating the Public with the latest information through Public  Announcement System, Hospitality to the passengers on the platforms and in the circulating area at Visakhapatnam Railway Station. The staff and officials of Commercial Department have co-ordinated with the officials of South Central Railway, Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Department and Airport Authorities and transported the passengers who have come to Bay City and surrounding cities and who  had alighted at various railway stations between Samarlakota and Vijaywada from trains which were either diverted or which were short terminated. All the passengers were brought to Visakhapatnam Railway Station on Sunday night itself. The above work was done under the supervision of the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, M. Yalvendra Yadav and under the guidance and monitoring of the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, C. Madhusudhana Rao and Divisional Railway Manager, Anil Kumar.

RTC As many as 320 buses of APSRTC were cancelled due to flooded water clogs caused by the lashing rains in Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The RTC officials informed that loss to the tune of Rs. 50 lakhs(approximately) incurred to the corporation due to the rains. However, bus services to all routes from Visakhapatnam were restored this morning.

Flights normal According to sources, the runway at the Airport was absolutely fine and devoid of water. The flights are running as normal.
