Title - Railway all set to introduce first Udaya train between Coimbatore and Bengaluru

Udaya trains were announced in 2016 rail budget by ex Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. Now with onset of New Year Indian Railways is all set to introduce these trains. Initially the first udaya train will be introduced between Bengaluru and Coimbatore.

Railway has already conducted 2 trials of these trains. According to a senior Railway official the first trial was conducted on August 10 at a speed of 80 kilometre per hour and the second trial was done on December 5 at a speed of 100 km per hour. Udaya trains will be fully air conditioned double decker train that is mainly aimed to run overnight. Railway was expecting to run these trains in mid of 2016 but there were difficulties in finalising design and features for this train which led delay of almost 10 months.

These double decker trains will not be a conventional double decker train that currently is a part of Indian Railway fleet. Coaches of these trains will be equipped with security system and coffee / tea vending machines apart from 40% extra passenger carrying capacity. Also chairs will be more comfy to make night journey comfortable. Besides Bengaluru - Coimbatore these trains will also be run between Bandra - Jamnagar and Visakhapatnam - Vijayawada in its initial phase.
