Title - Passengers still await updated timetable at Surat railway station

SURAT: The passengers travelling from the Surat railway station are unhappy as the western railway authorities are yet to update the new timetable of the long and short distance trains, which has come into effect from July 1.

Sources said that the Western Railway (WR) has speed up around 19 long distance trains by 5 minutes to 75 minutes and that the timings of around 29 trains have been preponed by 5 minutes or more on originating stations.

However, the Bandra Terminus-Udaipur express has been speeded up by 40 minutes and Palanpur-Bhuj express and Kamakhya-Gandhidham express have been speeded up by 55 minutes and 75 minutes respectively.

Sources said that the passengers at the Surat railway stations have little or no information about the updated time-table of the trains from the originating stations. However, most of them are still arriving at the station on the old timings.

Shailesh Parekh, a passenger travelling to Mumbai said, "There is an urgent need to update the time-table at the railway station. We all follow the arrival and departure timings as per the time-table on the platform"
