Title - Paper boxes will be used by central Railway to serve food

Central Railway (CR) is all set to use paper plates, cups and cardboard boxes for eatables at stations. In a recent meeting, CR officials decided to completely stop purchase of plastic materials. 

“We have asked all stall owners and catering officials to stop getting plastic products. They need to finish the existing stock. We will gradually introduce paper plates, cups and cardboard boxes,” said a senior CR official.

Currently, food products are distributed in plastic containers or packets on trains and at stalls on stations. CR will hold another meeting on May 10 to look for alternatives to plastic spoons that are served with meals on long-distance trains.
