Northern Railways introduces new trains for Haryana

Chandigarh, Jul 1 : Accesding to demands of people of Haryana, Northern Railways has introduced a new passenger train from Rohtak to Panipat, extended the Jind-Sirsa passenger train to Hisar, and Delhi-Jind train to Narwana. Besides, a number of other mail and express trains have also been extended, which would benefit a number of towns in Haryana.

In a press statement issued here today, Mr Deepender Singh Hooda, Congress MP, hailed the move to start a new train from Rohtak to Panipat and extension of the run of other trains. He thanked UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and Union Railway Minister Mukul Roy, for acceeding the long pending demands of the people of Haryana.

The daily Rohtak-Panipat passenger train would leave Rohtak at 1115 hours and reach Panipat at 1400 hours. It would start return journey from Panipat at 1430 hours and reach Rohtak at 1640 hours. This would benefit commuters and others in the three districts of Rohtak, Sonepat and Panipat, he added.

The Jind-Sirsa passenger train had been extended up to Hisar. It would leave Jind at 1625 hours and reach Sirsa at 2245 hours, depart from Hisar after five-minute halt at Sirsa to reach Hisar at 0025 hours. The train would depart from Hisar at 0420 hours and reach Sirsa at 0610 hours. It would leave Sirsa at 0620 hours and reach Jind at 1450 hoursm.

Mr Hooda said it would benefit the people of Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa. The Delhi-Jind passenger express had been extended from Jind to Narwana. It would reach Jind at 2145 hours and touch Narwana at 2245 hours. The train would start from Narwana at 2315 hours to reach Jind at 0005 hoursm. The extension of the train up to Narwana would provide people another link train to Delhi and vice-versa.

Similarly, the Kathgodam-Delhi-Ranikhet express had been extended up to Jodhpur and it would benefit the people of Gurgaon, Pataudi Road and Rewari, he added.

The people of Haryana would also benefit from the proposed new mail/ express trains: Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Udhampur AC express train (tri-Weekly); Amritsar-Hazur Sahib-Nanded Superfast Express (weekly); and Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Bandra (T) Express train (weekly). These would benefit the people of Panipat, Ambala Cant, Jakhal, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Rewari and Narnaul, he added.

Mr Hooda said the 2012-13 Railway Budget had provided for a number of new railway projects for Haryana. It has sanctioned new rail line from Rohtak to Hansi via Meham, while case for new rail line between Hisar and Sirsa via Agroha and Fetahabad has been sent to the Planning Commission for appraisal.

The Rohtak MP said that he had been consistently trying for a direct rail connection between Sirsa and Delhi via Fatehabad, Hisar, Hansi, Meham and Rohtak. While the first part of the project has been okayed in the railway budget, he, along with other Congress MPs, were making efforts to achieve the second part as well by providing new rail line between Hisar to Sirsa via Fatehabad.

Mr Hooda said that during the six years of NDA Government supported by INLD, Haryana virtually got no rail project.

The then Union Railway Minister, Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, had announced new passenger trains between Panipat and Rohtak (daily) and extension of the passenger trains from Jind-Sirsa to Hisar and Delhi-Jind passenger train to Narwana. He promised to follow up the case for starting new train between Rewari and Phulhera, as had been announced in the Railway Budget.

Mr Hooda said during the tenure of the present Congress Government in the state, many rail projects have been completed while many more were being executed with 50 per cent contribution from the state government. (UNI)
